Ladies and gentlemen, leaders of the free world, members of the international press, for nearly a century the international community has looked at the Middle East through a narrow, comfortable, and ultimately dangerous lens. You have looked at our region and seen a vast, volatile gas station, a distant wellspring whose primary purpose is to keep the engines of the global economy humming and the prices at the pump low. You have looked at the map and asked only one question: Will the fuel keep flowing? Today, I stand before you to shatter that illusion.

The era of the Middle East as a mere gas station is over. The pipelines have been militarized. The shipping lanes are being weaponized, and the very resources the world relies upon to heat its homes, power its industries, and drive its economies, have been transformed into instruments of global extortion.

We must dispense with the comforting fiction that the conflict raging in the Middle East is a local Israeli issue. It is not a regional territorial dispute. If you believe this war is confined to the borders of the Levant, you are gravely mistaken. This is a direct, calculated threat to every household, every economy, and every democracy on earth. It is a threat to the family in Paris paying a winter heating bill, the factory worker in Tokyo relying on global supply chains, the household in London managing inflation, and the commuter in Washington filling their car with fuel. When the regime in Tehran flexes its muscles, it is not just the sirens in Tel Aviv that sound. Make no mistake: when Iran presses the button in Tehran, the lights go out in Berlin.

And let us be clear about the physical threat: Iranian ballistic missiles can already reach London. I have been warning of this exact danger for years. For two and a half years, I have been traveling the globe, standing on stages just like this one, explaining precisely this point: this threat is not only related to Israel. It is a direct danger to Europe and the entire free world.

80 years ago, in a time of great global peril, Winston Churchill warned the free world that an Iron Curtain had descended across the continent of Europe. It was a barrier that divided freedom from tyranny. Today, in 2026, I warn you of a new equally sinister barrier. From the shores of the Caspian Sea to the critical shipping lanes of the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, an Oil Curtain has descended across the Middle East. Behind this Oil Curtain lies a regime of absolute brutality. Behind this curtain, a theocratic dictatorship systematically crushes the spirit of its own people. This is a regime that hangs dissidents from construction cranes. It is a regime where young women and girls are beaten to death in the streets for simply showing a lock of hair for daring to demand basic human dignity. It is a regime that ruthlessly murders peaceful protesters.

To the Iranian people, I say this today: we stand with you. We share your hope, and we want to see you liberated from the oppressive grip of the Ayatollahs' regime. To the brave women of Iran, I have a direct, personal message from me to you: you are our sisters. We see your unimaginable courage, and we stand by your side. Recently, I watched a video that broke my heart. I saw a little Iranian girl swinging on a swing at the beach with the terrifying flash of explosions lighting up the sky behind her. Watching her, my deepest wish was for a better, brighter future for her, for their children, Iranian children, and for ours. I dream of a day when all our children will grow up without wars. A day when Iranian children will be able to come and play safely on the beaches of Tel Aviv, and we will be able to visit the beautiful shores of a peaceful, free Iran. Our true message today is one of hope: we wish for a brighter future for all our children.

And to the millions of protesters marching in the streets and across college campuses in the free world, I must ask: Where are you now? Why are you silent when innocent Iranians are being slaughtered? ״Free Iran!" That is the only message that should be echoing across your city squares today.

For too long, the international community has tried to separate the economic reality of Iranian oil from the moral reality of Iranian terror. But they are one and the same. Every single barrel of oil sold by the Iranian regime through the shadow economy is a down payment on global instability. Those revenues do not build schools or hospitals in Shiraz or Isfahan. They build the attack drones that are unleashed upon the skies of Europe. They pay the salaries of the morality police. They finance the proxy militias that destabilize sovereign nations across the region. Let us be absolutely clear: Iran is the mastermind and the primary operator of a vast network of terror proxies across the entire Middle East, and their reach extends far beyond.

I urge you: do not let the smell of oil mask the scent of revolution. Do not let the allure of cheap crude blind you to the heavy, bloody price being paid by the Iranian people, and by the victims of Iranian proxy terror around the world. Every transaction with Tehran is a transaction that funds the suppression of women, the oppression of a nation, and the export of terror.

But the danger of the Oil Curtain extends far beyond the borders of Iran. The regime has pioneered a new and devastating form of global warfare: hostage economics. Look at the map. Look at the Strait of Hormuz. It is a narrow strip of water, barely twenty-one miles wide, yet roughly twenty percent of the world’s daily oil consumption passes through it. One-fifth of the lifeblood of the global economy flows through a chokepoint that Tehran believes it can open and close at will. If the Iranian regime disrupts or chokes off the Strait of Hormuz, the consequences will not be localized to the Middle East. It will trigger an immediate catastrophic shock to the entire world economy. Energy prices will sky rocket. Global supply chains will fracture. The cost of manufacturing, the cost of transport, and the cost of basic food supplies in every supermarket in the free world will become unbearable.

Let me be clear: Iran is not just a threat to Israel’s borders; it is a threat to every gas station in the world. They are using global energy as leverage, and they are holding the global economy hostage. They have engineered an Energy Stranglehold around the neck of the free world.

And now we must confront the most terrifying escalation of all. Imagine this Energy Stranglehold. Imagine this power to paralyze the global economy. Now, imagine it backed by a nuclear weapon. If Iran is allowed to become nuclear-capable while controlling or threatening the world’s most vital energy routes, the era of global free trade as we know it will end. The result will not merely be higher prices at the pump.

It will be an era of unprecedented global coercion; it will be an era of nuclear blackmail. If you think oil prices are high now, wait until they are backed by a nuclear threat. A nuclear-armed Iran would not even need to launch a missile to bring the world to its knees, the mere threat of nuclear escalation over the Strait of Hormuz would send global energy markets into a tailspin. It would unleash extreme price shocks, trigger hyperinflation and potentially cause the collapse of global financial markets. The free world would find itself paralyzed, forced to choose between economic collapse and capitulation to a terror state.

Faced with this monumental threat we find ourselves at a historical crossroads, facing a familiar and dangerous temptation: the temptation of appeasement. There are those in the halls of power who believe that if we just accommodate the regime, if we look at other ways while there are bypass sanctions, if we prioritize cheap energy over our moral clarity, we can manage the threat. This is the 21st century from the appeasement, and history has taught us the better price of such illusions. You cannot buy peace from a regime that exports terror. Relying on Iranian oil and gas or turning a blind eye to its illicit trade, is strategically suicidal.

Economic dependence on authoritarian terror sponsoring regimes, is an Achilles heel of the free world. By continuing to trade with Tehran, by allowing them to enrich their coffers through the black market, the international community is feeding the alligator, hoping it will eat them last. But this hunger is limitless. It will not stop with Israel. When you choose short-term cheap energy over controlling this threat, you are not buying stability, you are financing the very chaos that will ultimately bankrupt you. We are engaged in a struggle that goes far beyond territory, this is a civilizational clash. It is a struggle between freedom and coercion, between stability and terror, between open societies and hostage economies.

Israel is acting now, we are standing on the front lines of this conflict. But we are not fighting merely to protect our own borders, the war against Iran is not only about territory, it is about breaking the world dependents on resource-based terror. We are acting to prevent a much darker global future, a future where the free world is held captive behind the oil curtain.

Energy security is global security, the international community must awaken to this reality. We must strip away the diplomatic pleasantries and face the hard truth. I issue a clear firm demand to the democratic nations of the world – we must demand that the free world treats the Iranian regime not only as a trading partner to be managed, but also as the global threat that it is.

I know that the price of confronting this regime today may seem high, it requires sacrifice, it requires unity and it requires political courage. But the world must understand, the cost of stopping them now is high but the cost of waiting will be unbearable. We must not trade our long-term freedom for short-term cheap fuel.

Let us stand together not just in defense of Israel, but in defense of the global economy, in defense of freedom of navigation and in defense of the moral conscience of humanity. The oil curtain can be torn down, the energy stranglehold can be broken. But it requires the free world to remember its own strength, to rediscover moral clarity and to act before darkness falls. Do not wait for the lights to go out, break the energy strangle hold today or live in the dark tomorrow. Thank you.
