תודה רבה, אדוני היושב-ראש, ברשותך, אני אפנה בשפה האנגלית, לאור היום הבין-לאומי, לעולם כולו.
So today we are marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. You know, last year, when we marked this day, November, it was early on in the war, and I think maybe some countries around the world were very hesitant to talk about what happen in Israel on October 7th, and of course about the sexual violence. But I think one year later – you know, today is the 416th of this war, and I expected all women organizations around the world an UN women and other human organizations to acknowledge what has happened to us on October 7th, what Hamas has done to our women – but no only women, also men. And I wanted to remind the world that Naama, Arbel, Romi, Doron, Agam, Inbar, Emily, Liri, Shiri, Karina, Daniela, Ofra and Judi are steel in Gaza.
416 days that 13 of our women are still there. We still have 101 hostages, but among them 13 women, most of them very young women, who went horrible abuse and sexual assault and are going through it right now, as I speak. And where is the world? Why is the world silent? Why is no one speaking up? You know, early on in the war I wrote letters to all these organization, I signed members of the Knesset, but all organizations ignored this letter. And a few months later I established The Global Woman Coalition against Gender-based Violence as a Weapon of War. We did it here, at the Israeli Knesset, and we had many many ambassadors and representatives from around the world attend this assembly, including parliament members from around the world and ministers, and they all supported this coalition which, by the way, is not only for Israel and Hamas, it's for women around the world that are been sexual assaulted, and they use the sexual terror as a weapon of war.
And I just want to say that the sexual abuse that is being used in conflict areas is a new form of terror, and this is what the world need to call it. This is a new form of terror, and this is not threatening Israel only, this is threatening the entire free world, and we need the world to wake up and unite against this new method off terror. It’s a national security issue not only for the state of Israel, but for the entire free world.
And so I just wanted to thank the ambassadors that attended the committee today at the Knesset, and ask them to speak up and to talk about our women hostages and all our hostages. We need the world to wake up and help us bring them back home. Thank you very much.
